The Fifth Squad reports the details of an arrest for an incident that occurred on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 1:50 pm in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, officers observed a black 2010 Volkswagen Jetta traveling north in front of 77 Green Acres Road W with an expired NYS inspection sticker, missing front plate and an unregistered rear plate. Officers initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in the parking lot of 77 Green Acres Road W. The female operator failed to provide her license and vehicle registration. She refused numerous times to comply with the officer’s requests and then drove away with the front driver’s side door still open. As a result, an officer was dragged by the car causing him to sustain multiple injuries. The female subject fled the scene at a high rate of speed, committing multiple Traffic Law violations and nearly struck a pedestrian before stopping the vehicle in front of 750 Sunrise Highway. Defendant Charmaine N. Norville, 47, of 380 Union Avenue, Irvington, New Jersey was taken into custody without further incident.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Defendant Norville is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Reckless Driving, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. She will be arraigned on Friday, May 2, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
