The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Westbury woman for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) that occurred on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 11:55 pm in Westbury.

According to Police, Defendant Michelle Lopez, 22, of 39 Circle Drive, was observed operating a White 2013 Honda Civic with no front license plate northbound on Merrick Avenue near the intersection of Stewart Avenue. Officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop and observed the defendant with slurred speech, watery eyes and an odor of alcohol emanating from her breath resulting in positive results on the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Defendant Lopez was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported. The vehicles passenger, a female, 3 months old, was released into the custody of a family member.

Defendant Michelle Lopez is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16), Two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions. She will be arraigned on Monday, June 23, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
