The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Freeport man for a Robbery that occurred on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 2:40 pm in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, Aragon Burgess, 20, of 161 Independence Avenue, entered Macys Men’s Department Store located at 1095 Green Acres Mall and passed all points of purchase with store merchandise. After exiting the store without rendering payment, a loss prevention officer confronted Burgess and he threatened to stab the employee before fleeing the scene.
A short while later, Defendant Burgess was observed inside Macy’s Women’s Department located at 1000 Green Acres Mall. Defendant selected additional store merchandise and concealed the items in a backpack. He then exited the store passing all points of purchase, making no attempt to render proper payment. While attempting to flee the scene, the defendant pushed a male victim, 63, to the ground causing him to suffer substantial pain. A police officer also suffered injuries while attempting to apprehend Defendant Burgess. He was eventually placed into custody and transported to the Fifth Precinct Stationhouse for arrest processing. While in police custody, the defendant became extremely irate, uncooperative and spit on two officers.
Defendant Aragon Burgess is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Robbery 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Harassment 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 27, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
