The Third Squad Reports the arrest of a Freeport man for a Robbery that occurred on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 8:57 a.m. in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, Hempstead Police responded to 401 Fulton Avenue at the Bravo Market for a Robbery that had just occurred. The unknown suspect concealed multiple grocery items and passed all points of purchase without rendering payment. When approached by loss prevention officers, he did display a switchblade knife at the victims. The suspect fled scene prior to police arrival and no injuries were reported.
After a thorough investigation, Detectives identified and located defendant, Lucius Jenkins Jr., 25, of 71 Woodside Avenue at the Holiday Inn of 369 Old Country Road, Carle Place. When officers attempted to place the defendant into custody, he was violent and combative while resisting arrest.
Subsequent to the Defendants arrest, it was determined he was responsible for a Petit Larceny on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the BJ’s of 600 Brush Hollow Road, Westbury. On Thursday, November 7, 2024 officers initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop of the now known defendant, when he was uncooperative. The Defendant fled scene in his vehicle, striking a Police Officer causing minor injury and striking a Police Vehicle causing damage. He also struck an uninvolved motor vehicle which was parked and unoccupied, causing damage.
Defendant Lucius Jenkins Jr. is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Petit Larceny and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
