The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Lynbrook man for an Assault that occurred on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:03 am in East Rockaway.

According to Detectives, a 61- year-old male PSEG employee who was working as an Environmental Engineer investigating hazardous materials was working on Atlantic Avenue in the vicinity of Marina Pointe Drive. The defendant John A. Spears, 33, of 123 S. Franklin Avenue confronted the worker and a verbal argument ensued. The defendant then struck the victim repeatably causing his glasses to fall and break.  The victim immediately called 911. Upon police arrival, the defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The victim suffered pain to his right hand and wrist and was evaluated at scene but refused further medical treatment. The defendant was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. While receiving treatment at the hospital, the defendant became aggressive and irate and repeatably kicked the wall causing extensive damage.

Defendant John A. Spears is charged with Assault 2^nd Degree, two counts of Criminal Mischief 4^th Degree and Menacing 3^rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, July 20, 2025 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
