The Third Squad reports the arrest of a New Hyde Park man for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for an incident that occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10:43 PM in East Garden City.

According to Detectives, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) Officers while on routine patrol observed a male walking in the parking lot of Lowe’s located at 700 Dibblee Drive after hours. Officers approached the subject who then fled scene on foot. After a brief foot pursuit and numerous verbal commands, officers attempted to place the subject under arrest when he became violent and combative. The defendant Brian Austin Lackner, 32, of 30 Aster Drive was placed under arrest and transported to a local area hospital for evaluation. The defendant was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be crack cocaine. During the course of the arrest, an officer sustained injuries and was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Defendant Brian Austin Lackner is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7^th Degree, Assault 2^nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, August 22, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
