The Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in Hicksville.
According to detectives, a male entered Island Federal Credit Union located at 85 East Old Country Road and fraudulently obtained a loan in the amount of $36,524.63 with fraudulent paystubs and a counterfeit New York State Department of Motor Vehicle driver’s license. The male then purchased a 2022 blue BMW sedan and failed to make the required payments on the loan. The Island Federal Credit Union reported the auto stolen. A short time later the Brookville Police Department recovered the vehicle and it was impounded. On August 13, 2025 after a thorough investigation defendant Alexander Carlton, 40, of 66 Henry Street responded to the Eighth Precinct Station House and attempted to get his vehicle back but instead he was arrested by detectives without incident.
Defendant Carlton is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
