The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Massapequa woman for Driving While Intoxicated/Leandra’s Law that occurred on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 5:45 pm in Westbury.
According to Police, Second Precinct officers responded to 1 Jericho Turnpike for an automobile accident. Upon arrival, it was determined that the defendant, Toni-Ann Appice, 31, of 47 Alhambra Road, had been operating a vehicle involved in the accident and was exhibiting signs of intoxication. The defendant had her three children in the vehicle, a 6-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident and the children were released to a relative. No injuries were reported. Subsequent to the investigation a bottle containing 12 Alprazolam pills was recovered from the defendant.
Defendant Appice is charged with three counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. She will be arraigned on Friday, May 16, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
