The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal police involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 12:25 a.m. in Carle Place.
According to Detectives, police responded to the 339 Rushmore Avenue residence for a Domestic incident involving an intoxicated male acting irrationally. Upon arrival, the male, was observed by officers standing in front of the home holding a shotgun and pointing the weapon at responding police officers. While he was menacing the police officers, he disregarded numerous verbal commands from officers to disarm himself. It became reasonable and necessary for the officer to use deadly physical force to stop the threat to officers and the residents.
The male was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital. The male has now been identified as James Rosano, 33 years old.
The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad will continue their investigation into this incident in conjunction with the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
