The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 5:20 am in Hempstead.
According to detectives, a 40-year-old male driver was traveling north on Henry Street in the vicinity of Albemarle Avenue in a 2008 black Nissan Sentra when he crossed over the double yellow line. He then collided with a 2023 black Hyundai Elantra being driven by a 27-year-old female traveling south on Henry Street. The driver of the Nissan was extricated from his vehicle by the Hempstead Fire Department and transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The driver of the Hyundai was also transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
