The Electronic Squad / Fraud and Forgery Section report the arrest of a Queens man for an Elder Scam/ Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 4:00 pm in Baldwin.

According to detectives, a 73-year-old male victim received a phone call informing him that his bank account and social security number had been compromised. The victim was instructed that he needed to withdraw his funds from the bank to safeguard his money. The victim complied; went to the bank and withdrew $40,000 USC. The victim than met with the unknown male subject in a parking on Grand Avenue and handed over the money. A short time later, the victim realized he had been scammed and immediately contacted the police. After an extensive investigation, the Defendant Junkai Chen, 35, of 654 175th Street, Fresh Meadows was placed under arrest without incident.

Defendant Junkai Chen is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
