The Electronics Squad / Fraud & Forgery Section reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 1:41 p.m. in New Hyde Park.

According to Detectives, a 62-year-old female victim was using her computer when she received a notification that there was suspected malware on her Microsoft account. The victim was directed to contact Microsoft’s Fraud Department and was provided a phone number. After speaking with the fraud department, the victim was instructed to withdraw $27,000 USC from her bank and meet with a bank agent in the parking lot of 1650 Jericho Turnpike. The victim withdrew the funds, met with the bank agent and handed him the money. She was told she would receive a receipt the next day for the payment. The following day the victim never received a receipt and realized she was scammed and contacted police. After a thorough investigation, Defendant Jyoti Jyoti, 31, of 328 Henry Street, Bethpage was located and placed under arrest without incident.

Defendant Jyoti Jyoti is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
