The Third Squad reports the arrest of an undomiciled man for a Burglary that occurred on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 10:35 p.m. in East Meadow.

According to Detectives, Third Precinct officers responded to a disturbance at Rapid 2 Laundromat, located at 2295 Hempstead Turnpike. Upon arrival, it was determined that the defendant, Michael Torres, 34, had entered the laundromat and forcibly pushed a 34-year-old male employee to enter an employees only vestibule. The defendant removed two bottles of soap from the vestibule and attempted to leave the location. Officers were able to place the defendant into police custody without incident and he was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. While at the hospital the defendant became violent and combative, kicking and flailing his arms and legs causing injuries to both officers. The officers were treated at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Defendant Torres is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, September 21, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
