Homicide Squad Detectives report the details of a Serious Vehicular Accident that occurred on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 8:52 pm in Franklin Square.
According to detectives, a female, 24, was operating a 2018 Toyota northbound on Franklin Avenue and struck a 2018 BMW turning westbound in the vicinity of Cloud Avenue.
The male operator, 39, of BMW suffered trauma to his legs and body. He was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
It was determined Guisela Garay, 24, of 1070 Polk Avenue, Franklin Square, was intoxicated and arrested without incident.
Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks.
Defendant Garay is charged with DWI, Vehicular Assault 1st Degree, Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, September 25, 2026 at First District Court, Hempstead.
