The Public Information Office reports the rescue of a federally protected species that occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 4:45 p.m. in North Hills.

According to Police, Sixth Precinct Officers received a 911 call for an injured bird located at 99 South Service Road. Officers observed an injured, young Osprey that had fallen out of its nest. The officers were able to safely secure the bird. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was contacted and the Osprey was safely transported by a New York State and Federally licensed, wildlife rehabilitator to a rehabilitation facility where it will be treated for its injuries and then released back into the wild.
