The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a North New Hyde Park man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 4:20 AM in North New Hyde Park.

According to Police, a Third Precinct Officer was on routine patrol when he was struck from behind by a 2004 gray Infiniti sedan. The collision was witnessed by another patrol unit who was in the area on an unrelated assignment in the vicinity of New Hyde Park Road and Aberdeen Road in North New Hyde Park. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene. An investigation was conducted and the operator was found to be intoxicated. The Defendant Rene Dominguez Alonso, 38, of 21 Tudor Drive, North New Hyde Park was taken into custody without further incident. The Officer was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Defendant Rene Dominguez Alonso is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Operating a Motor Vehicle with BAC of more than 1%, and Assault 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
