The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Police Involved Shooting that occurred on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 11:01 p.m. in Westbury.

According to detectives, Bureau of Special Operations (BSO) officers were inside of their vehicle located on Brush Hollow Road in the vicinity of 2nd Street when defendant Adrian Thompson, 27, of 945 Bard Road, Westbury ran towards the front passenger-side window of the police vehicle. He then started violently stabbing the window multiple times shattering the window. The officers discharged their weapons resulting in defendant Thompson being struck in the jaw. Those same officers immediately began to render aid and provide lifesaving assistance. Defendant Thompson was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby hospital where he is currently in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Defendant Thompson is being charged with two counts of Menacing a Police Officer. He will have a bedside arraignment at a local area hospital on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
