Arson Bomb Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Jericho woman for an incident that occurred on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2:37 a.m. in Jericho.

According to detectives, Second precinct officers responded to the Inn at Jericho, located at 101 Jericho Turnpike, for a disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined that the defendant Crystal Alston, 54, of 101 Jericho Turnpike, was observed by an employee of the establishment on live security camera exit her room holding a pillowcase that was on fire and threw it on the floor. The defendant then returned to her room. The employee extinguished the fire and called police. After a thorough investigation officers placed the defendant into police custody without incident. A Nassau County Police Department Ambulance transported the defendant to a local hospital for evaluation. The investigation is ongoing.

Defendant Alston is charged with Attempted Arson 2nd Degree and Arson 5th Degree. She will be arraigned on Monday, August 10, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street. Hempstead.
