The Sixth Squad reports the arrest of three men for an incident that occurred on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 10:33 PM in Roslyn Heights.
According to detectives, officers responded to a call for a Burglary in Progress at a Spruce Street residence. The homeowner, 35, observed on his surveillance system two unknown male subjects attempting to gain entry into an outdoor storage unit. The victim immediately called 911. Prior to police arrival, the subjects fled scene in a vehicle in an unknown direction.
After an investigation, officers located the defendants and placed them under arrest without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Defendant William Salmeron, 36, of 608 Whittier Street, Westbury and Darwin Amaya, 35, of 168 Woodbury Road, Hauppauge are charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. They will be arraigned on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
Defendant Aravinda Ramkistodas, 30, of 10 Farrington Avenue, Bay Shore is charged with numerous Vehicle Traffic Law violations. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable on Tuesday, May 19,2026 to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
