The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for an Attempted Kidnapping that occurred on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 4:10 pm in Uniondale.
According to detectives, officers received the report of an Attempted Kidnapping on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 2:25 pm. Police were infirmed that an 11-year-old victim was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Chester Street and Front Street when he was approached by an unknown male subject who offered him money, in an attempt to lure him into a nearby home. The victim refused and attempted to walk away. The male subject then forcibly grabbed the victim’s wrist, trying to prevent him from escaping and causing the victim to fear for his safety. The victim managed to pull his arm away from the subject and walked quickly toward Front Street without further incident. No injuries were reported.
On Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 1:05 pm police located Nelson A. Acevedo, 51, of 373 Maple Grove Avenue and placed him under arrest for the above incident.
Defendant Nelson A. Acevedo is charged with Attempted Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
