The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a New Cassel man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 8:15 pm in New Cassel.
According to police, officers responded to the Town of North Hempstead Community Center located at 141 Garden Street for a report of a found juvenile. Upon arrival, officers located an unattended 6-year-old male. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the juvenile was left in the care of a family friend who then left the residence, leaving the child unattended. Defendant Rood-Diny Illus, 31, of 869 Oliver Avenue was placed under arrest without incident. The juvenile was evaluated at scene by a Nassau County Police Medic and was released into the custody of a family member.
Defendant Rood-Diny Illus is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable on Thursday, August 13, 2026 to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
