The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Island Park man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 4:05 pm in Island Park.
According to detectives, police responded to an Island Park residence for a disturbance. Upon police arrival, officers were informed that a verbal argument occurred between the Defendant Michael R. Leonetti, 29 and a male victim, 62. As the argument escalated, the defendant pushed the victim to the floor and punched him in the head causing him substantial pain. The victim, fearing for his safety stated he was calling the police. At this time, Defendant Leonetti took the victims phone and threw it against a wall so he could not contact the police. This caused a hole in the wall and damage to the victim’s phone.
Subsequent to the investigation, the defendant was found to be in possession of a pill bottle containing an unknown substance. Four officers and the defendant were transported to an area hospital for exposure to the unknown substance.
Defendant Micheal R. Leonetti is charged with Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Menacing 3rd Degree and Assault 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
