The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 5:22 PM in Wantagh.
According to detectives, a 57 year old male was operating a 2025 GMC pickup truck westbound on Lufberry Avenue and while turning southbound onto Briard Street, struck a 53 year old female pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced by hospital staff. The victim has been identified as Elena Crowley of Wantagh. The driver of the vehicle remained at scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
