

The Eighth Squad reports the details on the arrest of two men for an Assault that occurred on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 4:00 a.m. in Farmingdale.
According to detectives, while on patrol officers observed a disturbance of several people in front of the X bar located at 195 Main Street. Officers exited their vehicle and intervened causing all parties to disperse. A short time later, defendants Niquan Joiner, 24, of 307 Robinson Avenue, East Patchogue and Devlin Samuels, 23, of 38 S 19th Street, Wyandanch returned to the scene and began to act erratically. Officers attempted to stop both defendants who then entered into a blue Nissan Murano. While attempting to remove defendant Samuels from the passenger-side of the vehicle, defendant Joiner did put the vehicle in drive and accelerated. One officer was dragged several feet before releasing from the vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle in the vicinity of Melville Road and Main Street. Both officers sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as both defendants were violent and combative while resisting arrest. Both officers were transported to nearby hospitals for their injuries.
Defendants Niquan Joiner and Devlin Samuels are both being charged with Assault 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd. Defendant Joiner is additionally being charged with Reckless driving and Unlawful fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd. They are being arraigned on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
