The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Syosset man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 12:30 a.m. in Syosset.

According to detectives, officers responded to the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway in the vicinity of exit 43 for an auto accident. Upon arrival, officers observed defendant, Kevin Byong Koon Yim, 45, of 32 Walters Avenue seated in a 2024 Chevrolet. An investigation at the scene led to the recovery of a Sig Sauer firearm and a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported at scene.

Defendant Kevin Byong Koon Yim is charged with two counts Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3^rd Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7^th Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
