The Electronics Squad Fraud & Forgery Unit reports the arrest of a Queens man for an Attempted Grand Larceny on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 2:08 pm in Oceanside.
According to Fraud and Forgery Detectives, in conjunction with the 4th Squad, a 66-year-old female victim, while attempting to service her Apple device, was informed by an unknown subject claiming to work for Apple, that her account had been compromised. On February 25, 2026 the victim was contacted by an unknown subject and informed that she needed to withdraw $22,500.00 to help fix her account and arrangements would be made to pick up the cash. Before completing the transaction, the victim contacted police.
Defendant Changxuan Liu, 32, of 153-02 Peck Avenue was located when he responded to pick up the money and detectives attempted to place him under arrest. He refused to comply after detectives gave multiple verbal commands for the defendant to stop resisting. Detectives eventually were able to place him into custody. Defendant Liu is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was issued an Appearance Tickets returnable to First District Court, Hempstead on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
