The Second Squad reports the details of an arrest on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 1:35 pm of a Syosset man and a male juvenile in Syosset.
According to detectives, officers were conducting an investigation for a Bias Incident that occurred at Syosset High School, located at Southwoods Road. After a thorough investigation officers determined that a male juvenile, 15, drew a swastika in a male restroom at the school. During the investigation, officers responded to the juvenile’s residence and discovered several chemicals at this location that had been combined to create explosive materials.
At this time officers conducted an evacuation of the home and began to evacuate residents of neighboring homes. The Nassau County Fire Marshal, Arson Bomb Squad, Nassau County Police Emergency Service Unit (ESU) were all notified and responded to the scene. The Nassau County Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Response Team also responded and carefully removed the hazardous material from the home.
Further investigation by detectives revealed that the juvenile’s father, Francisco Sanles, 48, on multiple occasions, paid for the purchase of the various chemicals. He was placed into custody without further incident. He is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Facilitation 4th Degree, two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Reckless Endangerment. He will be arraigned on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
The juvenile defendant is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Aggravated Harassment 1st Degree and Making Graffiti. He will be arraigned at Nassau County Family Court, 101 County Seat Drive, Mineola.
