The Electronics Squad Fraud & Forgery Unit report the arrest of a Baldwin man on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 12:25 pm for Grand Larceny.
According to detectives, an unknown subject contacted the Chase customer service line and fraudulently identified themselves as an account holder on multiple occasions. The subject would then change the victims mailing address to their own and order a debit card to their home. A thorough investigation identified defendant Paras Javed, 26, of 757 Bixby Drive, as the person responsible for the above incidents. Defendant Javed was taken into custody without incident. From November 2025 through January of 2026 the defendant initiated 110 unauthorized withdrawals totaling $55,000.
Defendant Paras Javed is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Identity Theft 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Scheme to Defraud 1st Degree and two (2) counts of Unlawful Possession of Personal Identifying Information 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, April 3, 2026, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
