The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of a Central Islip man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 7:40 a.m. in Bethpage
According to Detectives, a 36-year-old male was driving a 2024 Isuzu box truck southbound on Hicksville Road near the intersection of Brenner Avenue when he struck a 2023 Kia, operated by a 32-year-old male that was exiting a parking lot onto Hicksville Road. After a thorough investigation, Wilber Arevalo Argueta, of 37 Satinwood Street, the operator of the truck was placed under arrest without incident for Driving While Intoxicated. The victim suffered collapsed lungs and a broken pelvis. He was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. He is listed in critical condition. There was a 38-year-old male passenger in the Isuzu box truck and no other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Defendant Arevalo Argueta is charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was issued an Appearance Ticket and will be arraigned on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

The above listed victim, Gino Vargas, of Farmingdale succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician. There are no additional charges at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
