The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 7:25 p.m. in New Cassel.
According to Detectives, Third Precinct officers responded to a New Cassel residence for an Aided case. Upon arrival, it was determined that Ernest Naranjo, 22, of 241 Covert Street, arrived at the residence and caused a disturbance with a 21-year-old female victim. The disturbance escalated and the defendant bit the victim’s lip. The defendant exited the residence then shortly returned by kicking in the front door. He then pointed a firearm at the victim causing her to fear for her life and struck her with the firearm. The defendant fled on foot and the victim called police. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. After a thorough investigation the defendant was located near the intersection of Union Avenue and Linden Avenue. After a short foot pursuit, the defendant was placed into police custody. A loaded Colt .25 handgun was recovered from the defendant. The defendant was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.
Defendant Naranjo is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Criminal Contempt 1st Degree. He was arraigned on Friday, October 2, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
