The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a Copiague man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 5:00 pm.

According to Detectives, Defendant David McCarthy, 41, of 233 Mariners Way was involved in a verbal argument with a 28-year-old male victim at his Haven Lane residence. The argument escalated and the defendant stabbed the victim in the leg causing a severe laceration. The defendant then fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

Subsequent to the investigation, the defendant was located and placed under arrest without incident. No other injuries were reported.

Defendant David McCarthy is charged with Assault 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 5, 2026 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
