The Electronics Squad Fraud & Forgery Unit reports the arrest of a Queens man on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 3:10 pm for an incident that occurred in Valley Stream.
According to Fraud and Forgery Detectives, a male victim, 35, purchased a 2021 Honda Accord which was listed on Craigslist. Upon visiting the Department of Motor Vehicles, the victim discovered the title of the vehicle was fraudulent and it was determined that vehicle was stolen out of the confines of New York City on April 5, 2025.
A joint investigation between the Nassau County Fraud & Forgery Unit and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, identified Defendant Devon G. Ridgeway, 28, of 14606 Linden Boulevard as the person responsible for the above incident. He was located by detectives at the New York State Department of Corrections Parole building in Jamaica, Queens and placed into custody without incident.
Defendant Devon G. Ridgeway is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Forgery 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Personal ID 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
