The First Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man and a Roosevelt woman for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance that occurred on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 3:09 a.m. in Uniondale.
According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers observed a 2011 white Mercedes Benz traveling east on Jerusalem Avenue with the rear windows heavily tinted. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop at the intersection of Waypark Avenue and Matteline Street. Police observed defendant Haneef Lamont, 42, of 887 East 21st Street in the driver’s seat and defendant Shannon Baxter, 35, of 16 Abbott Place in the front passenger’s seat. During the investigation, Officers removed defendant Lamont from the vehicle and while removing defendant Baxter, Officers heard a noise and saw a black scale with a white powder like residue believed to be crack cocaine bounce off the sidewalk behind defendant Lamont. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered 83.7 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be crack cocaine and push rods that contained a powdery like residue believed to be heroin. Both defendants were arrested without incident. Subsequent to investigation, 3.6 grams of a clear plastic bag with a white rocklike substance believed to be crack cocaine and 7.6 grams of a clear plastic baggie containing a brown powdery substance believed to be heroin on defendant Baxter’s person. While defendant Lamont was transported to the First Precinct for arrest processing officers recovered 34.2 grams a large plastic baggie with a rocklike substance believed to crack cocaine. The substance was found behind the seat of the Police vehicle directly behind where defendant Lamont was seated.
Both defendant Baxter and defendant Lamont are being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd. Defendant Lamont is additionally being charged with two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence. They will be arraigned on Friday, January 16, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
