The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Wyandanch man on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 9:05 AM for an Attempted Grand Larceny/Elder Scam that occurred in Muttontown.

According to detectives, the Defendant Richard Francisco Perozo Rodriguez, 28, of 34 Birch Street was involved in attempting to defraud an elderly victim. The 79-year-old female victim received a telephone call from an individual claiming to be a police officer. The victim was told that her daughter had been arrested and needed cash for bail. The victim later realized it was a scam and contacted the police.

Subsequent to the investigation, detectives were able to place the defendant under arrest as he attempted to pick up the payment.

Defendant Rodriguez is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
