The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Serious Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 8:29 pm in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, a 22-year-old male was operating a 2007 black Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on Front Street when a 27-year-old male operating a 2024 Toyota Corolla made a left turn onto Front Street from Courtenay Road causing a collision. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local area hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. The operator of the Toyota remained at scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
**UPDATE**
The above listed victim has been pronounced deceased and is identified as Francisco Moises Alvarez, 22, of the Village of Hempstead.
