Garden City Detectives report the arrest of a Bronx man for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance that occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 9:30 pm in Garden City.

According to detectives, an investigation into a fatal overdose of a Garden City resident, led to the arrest of Defendant Oscar Giovanny Nieto Cardozo, 47, of 1975 Sedgwick Avenue.   Detectives placed the defendant under arrest without incident.  Subsequent to the investigation, the following illegal drugs were recovered: 

A rock-like substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine

6 clear vials of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine

6 clear bags containing a light-colored substance believed to be Ketamine

5 clear bags containing a pink colored powdery substance believed to be Pink Cocaine

Defendant Cardozo is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3^rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4^th Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3^rd Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 4^th Degree.   He will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at First District Court, Hempstead.
