
The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 4:50 PM in New Cassel.
According to Detectives, officers responded to a 911 call for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, officers observed a gray 2011 Honda Pilot full engulfed in flames. The Westbury Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.
After an extensive investigation, the Defendant Oma Puzie, 52, of 108 Madison Avenue was observed in the parking lot of 735 Prospect Avenue where it was determined he used an accelerant to set the above vehicle on fire before fleeing scene. The Arson Bomb Squad with the assistance of the Nassau County Fire Marshal located the defendant nearby and placed him under arrest without incident.
Defendant Oma Puzie is charged with Arson 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, May 1, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
