The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Westbury man for Menacing that occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 5:11 pm in Westbury.
According to police, officers from Bureau of Special Operations observed a male operating an electric scooter on the sidewalk in front of 215 Post Avenue. Officers asked the subject for identification. The male declined to produce identification and became combative. The male refused to comply with the officers’ verbal commands and a struggle ensued. While placing the subject into custody, he became violent and swung his left closed fist at officers. After being warned, an officer utilized an Electronic Control Device (ECD), Taser, subduing the subject.
Hector Hernandez Garcia, 42, was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Defendant Garcia is being charged with Menacing 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Unlawful Operating a Scooter on Non-Highway. He was released on an appearance ticket and taken into custody by U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agents.
