The First Squad reports the details of a robbery that occurred on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 3:42 a.m. in Rockville Centre.
According to detectives, Rockville Centre officers responded to BP Gas Station, located at 2 Sunrise Highway, for a disturbance. Upon arrival, it was determined that the defendant, Saifuddin Abdus-Samad, 56, of 38 Manor Court, Hempstead, entered the business and demanded cash from the register. A 64-year-old male employee refused and the defendant struck him in the face with a knife causing a laceration. The defendant removed US currency from the register and fled on foot. The victim was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. After a thorough investigation First Squad detectives located the defendant in Long Beach on Thursday, October 8, 2026 and he was placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant Abdus-Samad is charged with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree and one count of Assault 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
