Fourth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for Criminal Possession of a Firearm that occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 8:05 pm in Hewlett.
According to Detectives, Strategic Response Team (SRT) Officers, while on patrol
conducted a Vehicle Traffic Law investigation on a gray 2011 Infiniti sedan on Peninsula Boulevard in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue.
Subsequent to the investigation, Officers recovered a loaded firearm from the vehicle. The driver, Defendant Jair Perry, 19, of 15 Downs Road, was arrested without incident.
Defendant Jair Perry is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at First District Court, Hempstead.
