The Eighth Precinct reports the arrest of three (3) individuals during a Quality-of-Life Initiative that was conducted on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 7:15 pm in Farmingdale.
According to police, Strategic Response Team Officers (SRT) responded to Gutierrez Deli located at 416 Conklin Street and J & W Grocery Deli located at 499 Conklin Street. The investigation revealed that both establishments were in possession of illegal gambling devices and various prescription medications believed to originate from South America, clearly displayed for sale. Both locations were locked and secured.
Defendant Jorge Alejandro Pena Rodriguez, 56, of 195 46th Street, Lindenhurst, Defendant Nicolas Gutierrez, 57, of 12 Geoffrey Avenue, Syosset and Defendant Venancio Espinal Frias, 58, of 25 Irene Street, Lindenhurst, were all charged with Criminal Diversion of Prescription Medication 3rd Degree, Promoting Gambling 2nd Degree, Possession of Gambling Devices and Govern Licensee: On Premise Disorderly/Gambling. All three defendants were issued Appearance tickets returnable to First District Court on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
