The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 8:27 pm in West Hempstead.
According to Detectives, Strategic Response Team (SRT) Officers responded to 256 Grand Avenue for a 911 call stating a gun was displayed. Upon arrival, officers observed a large group of people and a 2016 white BMW with the engine idling and a male leaning against the vehicle. Officers activated their emergency lights to conduct an investigation.
Upon Officers exiting their vehicle, Tyrese Ashley, 24, of 10 Hillman Place, Roosevelt, did flee and was placed under arrest a short time later by additional responding officers.
The male operator of the BMW attempted to reverse and leave the scene but was stopped by Officers. He began to make furtive movements and grabbing towards a bag he was wearing on his person. Officers requested him to exit when he became combative and a physical struggle ensued. Defendant, Jonathan Romage, 21, of 3375 Milburn Avenue, was placed into custody with the help of additional responding Officers. A loaded 9MM handgun was recovered from the bag the defendant was wearing.
During the investigation, Defendant, Alyssa Horgan, 20, of 256 Grand Avenue, became combative, ran at officers and kicked an Officer in the knee. She was subsequently arrested. The officer was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Defendant Romage is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Unlawful Assembly and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. Defendant Horgan is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Unlawful Assembly and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. Defendant Ashley is charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. All defendants will be arraigned on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
