The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 5:58 AM in East Hills.
According to Police, Highway Patrol Officers responded to the eastbound Long Island Expressway, in the vicinity of exit 38 for an unrelated 911 call. While responding in a marked police vehicle, a Highway Patrol Bureau Officer was struck by a 2024 Black Audi. The operator initially attempted to flee in his vehicle and then proceeded to flee on foot. The defendant, Chi Hung Leung, 50, of 24 Bay 26th Street was located nearby by responding officers. An investigation found the defendant to be intoxicated. The officer and the defendant were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment. During the course of the arrest, the defendant did offer numerous officers money in exchange for his release.
Defendant Chi Hung Leung is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Injury, two counts of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and three counts of Bribery 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
