The 4th Squad reports the arrest of two men for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 4:25 PM in Oceanside.
According to detectives, a 65-year-old female victim received a message on her computer stating her bank account was compromised. She was then instructed to withdraw cash from her bank account to keep it secure. The victim complied and between September 30, 2025 and October 15, 2025, she made numerous withdrawals totaling $106,000 which she handed over to an unknown suspect for safekeeping. The victim realized she was being scammed and contacted police. Subsequent to an investigation, Defendants Yingliang Chen, 30, of 482 44th Street, Brooklyn and Defendant Zheying Zheng, 29, of 132-23 Sanford Avenue, Flushing were placed under arrest when they responded to pick up an additional $35,000 from the victim. Further investigation indicated that both defendants were in the United States illegally and subject to removal proceedings.
Defendant Yingliang Chen is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Resisting Arrest. Defendant Zheying Zheng is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. They were both released on Appearance Tickets and taken into custody by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
