The Third Squad reports the arrest of a New Cassel man for an Assault that occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11:00 PM in Westbury.

According to Detectives, defendant Sergio Ariel Guevara, 27 of 267 Wright Street, entered into a taxi on Maple Avenue being operated by a 31-year-old male. A physical altercation occurred in which defendant Sergio displayed a knife and stabbed the driver. Defendant Sergio then exited the taxi and the victim fled the scene, calling police a short distance away. When Officers arrived, they observed that the taxi driver sustained a laceration to his left arm and was bleeding excessively. Officers applied a torniquet to stop the bleeding and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. As Officers were conducting the investigation and interviewing witnesses, defendant Sergio returned to scene and was identified by a witness. Officers placed defendant Sergio under arrest without further incident and a knife was recovered. Defendant Sergio was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.

Defendant Sergio is charged with one count of Assault 1^st degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
