The Sixth Squad report the arrest of a Queens man for an Elder Scam/Attempted Grand Larceny that occurred on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:20 am in Manhasset.
According to Detectives, an 80-year-old male victim received a message on his cell phone informing him he owed money to the Treasury Department and that he needed to withdraw funds in order to avoid prosecution. The victim complied and between October 14th and October 16th, he withdrew a total of $35,600 USC which he handed over to numerous unknown male subjects who went to the victims home to collect the money. On October 18th, the victim realized he was being scammed and contacted police. After a thorough investigation, Defendant YangYang Wen, 36, of 132-21 41st Avenue was placed into custody.

Defendant YangYang Wen is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
