The Arson Bomb Squad reports the details of a suspicious car fire that occurred on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 6:39 PM in New Cassel.
According to detectives, officers responded to a call for a car fire on Sohmer Place. Upon arrival, officers observed a 2024 Nissan parked in the roadway that was on fire. The Westbury Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.
The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature. An investigation at the scene determined that an unknown suspect was seen walking away from the vehicle southbound on Sohmer Place shortly before the fire started. A description of the suspect is unavailable.
The investigation is ongoing.
