The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of an Oceanside man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 4:41 PM in Oceanside.
According to detectives, a 78 year old female was walking on Long Beach Road and while crossing at the crosswalk of Weidner Avenue, she was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Express Van being operated by a 24 year old male. She was transported to an area hospital where she is listed in critical condition. An investigation at the scene determined that the driver, Defendant Niall Duignan, 24, of 3394 Ocean Harbor Drive, was intoxicated. He was placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant Niall Duignan is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 19, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
