The Fifth Precinct Problem Oriented Policing Unit and the Fifth Precinct Detail report the arrest of four males during a “Project 21” initiative, which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to underage buyers. The initiative was conducted on Thursday, June 25, 2026 with the assistance of underage agents. The initiative resulted in the following arrests:
· Defendant Mujahid Khan, 27, of 568 Kirby Road, Elmont, sold a flavored tobacco product to an underage agent at Franklin Smoke and Cigar Shop located at 727 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Square. Additional prohibited items were recovered at the location on display for sale. He is charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, two counts of Sale of Tobacco Products and other violations.
· Defendant Davinder Singh, 25, of 1151 Barnes Street, Franklin Square, sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage agent at Prince Liquor and Wine located at 1310 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont. He is charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree and Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage.
· Defendant Yash Patel, 23, of 37 Catherine Street, Valley Stream, sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage agent at Circle A Deli located at 300A Meacham Avenue, Elmont. Additional prohibited items were recovered at the location. He is charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree, Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage and other violations.
· Defendant Vipul Patel, 45, of 8 Heroes Court, Bethpage, the manager of Circle A Deli located at 300A Meacham Avenue, Elmont was arrested and charged with Disorderly Premise under the Alcohol Beverage Control Law and other violations.
All defendants were released on appearance tickets returnable to First District Court.
