The Homicide Squad reports two active investigations into incidents that occurred on Thursday, April 30, 2026 and Friday, May 1, 2026 in Island Park and Valley Stream.
There is one suspect in custody who is involved in both incidents.
The investigation is ongoing.

According to Detectives, on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 12:27 a.m. Fourth Precinct Officers responded to Wendy’s located at 33 Austin Boulevard in North Long Beach for a 911 call. Upon arrival they located a 42-year-old woman who had been stabbed outside of the restaurant. She was pronounced at scene by a Nassau County Police Medic.
On Friday, May 1, 2026 at 3:13 a.m. Fifth Precinct Officers received a call from Lynbrook Police Department for a well check at 90 West Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream. Upon Officers arrival, they located a 32-year-old female who had been stabbed inside the residence. She was pronounced at scene by a Nassau County Police Medic.
The Defendant, Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, 22, of 90 West Mineola Avenue was located by the Lynbrook Police Department and after a thorough investigation he was arrested without incident.
He is charged with Murder 1st Degree and two counts of Murder 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

The two female victims have been identified as Ana Maria Del Aguila Cordova, 42 of Long Beach and Eddy Raquel Hernandez Castillo, 32 of Valley Stream.
